Chapter 13: Production Essentials: Magazine/Book Design
Week 11
This week - adjusted navigation buttons, edited placement of images, added an extra button and page called "Order," and honed in on the Table of Contents. I ended up manually creating the interactivity for TOC. Oh...and added some animation here and there. This project was challenging, and I'm happy with the results. I was pushing into "video," but I've run out of time. Overall, I am satisfied with the end results and very happy I stuck with it.
FINAL
Week 10
This week - I adjusted the document size - to 5.5 X 8.5. My thoughts - If it were to go to print one could just remove the interactivity, adjust the resolution, hit the print button, and fold the document in half. When I reduced the size of the document, paragraph styles were adjusted a bit more - until my eyes crossed. I adjusted table of contents, added some prices to each cup of coffee, added tabs and dot leaders, and added navigation to each page, added some animation to the front page, adjusted each image with text wrap. I'm still fumbling with Table of Contents - the interactivity "bookmarks" will work up until Vanilla Latte. (((?))) That will be my next goal - this week. Troubleshooting TOC. I plan on adding a middle button "Buy Now" that will have a pop up window and a few other interactivity ideas. ;) This assignment has been ... engaging. lol My idea and or guiding light for this project- I don't know if you have seen it yet - but nowadays you can walk into a restaurant - order your food/drink and pay for your food/drink from a digital menu installed within the table....that is way cool! Ok, Time to turn this assignment in.....
WEEK 9
Coffee Project Layout And Design Assignment
Working on layout, design and navigation for PDF documents/interactivity. Wow. I struggled until I figured out how I was going to present use the document. So I added navigation and a table of contents "interactivity."
Here are my documents for layout and design.
While I was playing with paragraph styles and the table of contents, I bumped into text wrap. Whoop whoop! Little did I know that text wrap also reacts to your navigation buttons - the text part. I tried bringing the text forward...nada.You will see a couple of blank "next" arrows. Haha I'll fix it. I need to get this assignment turned in... The navigation buttons in the the sllide presentation will not work because they are JPGs.
This assignment was consuming. I don't know about you but if I see an error, I HAVE to fix it. I saw the glyphs for 1/2 and 1/8, and 3/4 on the recipes, etc., so I thought I'd use the search and replace and quickly change then....I noticed changing those glyphs "font sizes" had a huge impact on my paragraph styles they were flowing into the next pager...Gahhhhh! Note the navigation buttons will not work in the below images because they are JPG
My next target is getting those Table of Contents to Link. I could manually paste their URLs but there has got to be an easier way. I heard it automatically creates the links "bookmarks"? ~Whatever..."Probably something easy I will learn about in the upcoming weeks.
The naviations buttons "Previous and Next" work. I checked with IE browser, but didn't check other browsers. I could not get the table of contents to work. The TOC for my coffee project was extremely easy to create...just no interactivity. Note: the navigation on the above images will not work because they are JPG. The navigation works in Google Browser after you click the image below. ;) I left a blank page on purpose to show off my background design.
